We examine the interaction between EP and subjective poverty in the long run. We apply the Markov process and clustering techniques to micro-level longitudinal data from the EU Survey on Income and Living Conditions. The results show that, on average, poverty makes it about two times harder to escape EP. We identify three groups of countries having similar transition probability paths.
